Friday... In my reading of the Bible, I have jumped from the Minor Prophets in the OT to the Gospel of Luke in the NT. And I read something and made it personal and asked, What would be my response? And that is always a good response in reading God's Word.
I started with the story in Luke chapter 1 of the angel, Gabriel talking to Zechariah and telling him that in their old age he and his wife were going to have a son. And here is his response, verse 18 (MSG), Zachariah said to the angel, 'Do you expect me to believe this? I'm an old man and my wife is an old woman.'"
That was his response to an unreasonable thought. What would be our response? And what is our response to what we are facing today? Are we discouraged? Are we doubting the impossible?
Verses 19-20, "But the angel said, 'I am Gabriel, the sentinel of God, sent especially to bring you this glad news. But because you won't believe me, you'll be unable to say a word until the day of your son's birth. Every word I've spoken to you will come true on time-God's time.'"
Maybe our response to what is happening to us is also a response of doubt and because we don't believe that God is in control, that God is greater than any pandemic, that He will take care of us, maybe we too have lost our voice as Christians. We are not lifting God up and believing that He will take care of this impossible situation.
By the way, a baby was born to them and his name was John and Zachariah got his voice back and responded, verse 78 (NLT), "Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace."
This was the right response. And this needs to be and can be our response. God knows what He is doing. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
