Matthew 6:34 (NLT), "So don't worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today."

Wednesday... Yes, there is a way to handle tomorrow, today!

Matthew 6:34 (NLT) gives the answer. It says, "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries." And that is so true. But this is also very true, "Today's trouble is enough for today." It really is.

Now The Message says it this way, "Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes." That is so good.

So, is there something that you are worrying about tomorrow? Our worries for tomorrow can make today miserable, can't it?

Now this is so important for us to see. Jesus in verses 30-33 says, "If God gives such attention to the appearance of wild flowers - most of which are never seen - don't you think he'll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you?" Now that is a very good question. It really is. We may need to put that up on our refrigerator.

Jesus goes on and says, "What I'm trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God's giving." But isn't that the American way? Someone asked, "How much does it take to make someone happy?" And he gave the answer, "Just a little bit more."

Jesus says, "People who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met."

The Amplified Bible says verse 33 this way, "But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right - the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also."

Yes, that is a way to handle tomorrow, today. "Today's trouble is enough for today." It really is. And he will also help you today! Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning

Tuesday... It is so worth it. It really is! Look at this, Proverbs 5:21-23 (CEV) says, "The Lord sees everything, and he watches us closely. Sinners are trapped and caught by their own evil deeds. They get lost and die because of their foolishness and lack of self-control." That is true of so many. Psalm 8:3-4 (NLT), "When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers - the moon and the stars you set in place - what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?" Friday... Yes, we need them. We really do. No, not the fact that I can go out my front door and look out at night at the marvels of the sky. I can do that and it is amazing and it takes my breath away each time I see it. Yes, that is a fact but the reality of who did that and the wisdom and the faith that I have to believe that and to marvel that the one who did that cares about me makes such a difference in how I live my life. Yes, God really does. That is so wonderful for us to believe. And that is why faith and wisdom are so important. Now whatever belief you have at how that marvel happened must also be believed through faith. Monday... Three ifs and two thens. They go together! They really do. And this is what caught my attention this morning as I was reading Proverbs 2. Verse 1 (NRSVUE) says, "My child, if you accept my words and treasure my commands within you." Verse 3 (NIV), "Indeed i f you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, Verse 4, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, Verse 5, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God." And verses 9-11, " Then you will understand what is right and just and fair - every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you." There will always be some effort we must do, some ifs for the thens to be realized in our lives.
