Psalm 89:1 (NLT), "I will sing of the Lord's unfailing love forever! Young and old will hear of your faithfulness."
Wednesday... Yes, our view can change but does it need to?
Now we can start our day with a encouraging view of God's unfailing love and his faithfulness. We can start the day with a view that is built on the fact that God loves me with an unfailing love and that lifts my confidence to how this day is going to turn out.
The Psalmist here in 89:1 (NLT) says, "I will sing of the Lord's unfailing love forever! Young and old will hear of your faithfulness." And that is a great way to start the day. It really is but then something happens that changes our view. It could be just an annoyance but it still can mean that our view for the day changes.
In verse 38 the writer of this Psalms view changes. It says (AMP), "But [in apparent contradiction of all this] You [the faithful Lord] have cast off and rejected; You have been full of wrath against Your anointed."
Yes, our view can change but does it need to.
Yes, there are things in our day, in our life that can change our view of God and his unfailing love. Now an important thing for us to see and keep in our mind is that that fact is true no matter what is happening to us. Yes, I loved my kids just as much when I was correcting them. But I'm sure that they had some problem with believing that I loved them in those times.
Everything that happens to us in our relationship with God will go through his unfailing love.
Now this Psalm is not written by King David but it is focusing on him. And in verses 30-33 (NLT) it says, "But if his descendants forsake my instructions and fail to obey my regulations, if they do not obey my degrees and fail to keep my commands, then I will punish their sin with the rod and their disobedience with beating. But I will never stop loving him nor fail to keep my promises." Yes, our view can change but does it need to?
It really is hard to be in a positive mood when you are having to correct someone you love even if it is because you do love them. Yes our view changes but we still can feel something deep inside of us that has hope attached to it because of love.
I don't think our kids really believe that we love them in those times until they have kids of their own.
Now look at the way this Psalmist ends this Psalm. Yes he goes through a time where he feels God's unfailing love is absent. And I know that we can feel the same way but here is how he ends this Psalm. In verse 52 he writes, "Praise the Lord forever! Amen and amen."
That is the way to keep our view of what is happening from really changing. Just stop and praise the Lord and see what happens. And for sure praise him for his unfailing love. Even in bad times, praise him. And that can make a major difference in our view. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
