Psalm 69:16-17 (NLT), "Answer my prayers, O Lord, for your unfailing love is wonderful. Take care of me, for your mercy is plentiful. Don't hide from your servant; answer me quickly, for I am in deep trouble."
Thursday... It's in his hands!
Trust is so important, especially when we are in deep trouble. And so is believing that God's unfailing love is real. Yes, we don't have a good perspective when we are in deep trouble.
But David writes in Psalm 69:16-17 (NLT), "Answer my prayers, O Lord, for your unfailing love is wonderful. Take care of me, for your mercy is plentiful. Don't hide from your servant; answer me quickly, for I am in deep trouble." And all of that is so real and that God can be trusted because it's in his hands.
Over in Genesis 40 Joseph was in deep trouble. He was in prison and he was not at fault. Now God had given him the ability to interpret dreams and these two guys came to him to interpret a dream that each one of them had. One was the chief cup-bearer of Pharaoh the leader of Egypt and the other was the chief baker. And Joseph interpreted their dreams.
Now the chief baker had a bad interpretation. In three days he was going to be killed but the chief cup-bearer was going to be released in three days and sent back to serve Pharaoh. Now the baker was killed and the cup-bearer was released and Joseph asked him in verse 14b, "Mention me to Pharoah, so he might let me out of this place." That seemed like a great way for Joseph to get out of this deep trouble he was in but verse 23, says "Pharaoh's chief cup-bearer, however, forgot all about Joseph, never giving him another thought."
Remember, everything that happens to us will go through God's unfailing love. It is in his hands and he can be trusted. He knows what he is doing. Now later the chief cup-bearer remembered and Joseph was released and eventually came to be the second in command in Egypt and he saved his family from starvation. God had a plan. The timing was in his hands.
Yes, we too may pray as David did, "Answer my prayers, O Lord, for your unfailing love is wonderful. Take care of me, for your mercy is plentiful. Don't hide from your servant; answer me quickly, for I am in deep trouble." But we need to be reminded of verses 32-33, "The humble will see their God at work and be glad. Let all who seek God's help be encouraged. For the Lord hears the cries of the needy; he does not despise his imprisoned people."
Yes, he can be trusted and he has whatever we are going through taken care of but in his time. Yes, "The humble will see their God at work and be glad." Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
