Saturday... It really can make a difference.
Over in Matthew 11:28-29 (NLT) I found this word that really can make a difference in our lives, in what we are going through and will go through in 2024. These verses start by saying, "Then Jesus said" and that is a great place to start. This whole chapter is in red and that shows what Jesus personally said. "Then Jesus said." Does that matter to you? Who is it that when they speak you listen, really listen to? That tells alot about what direction our life is headed. It really does.
"Then Jesus said, 'Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you.'" And teach is the word. "Let me teach you." That's what Jesus wants to do and it will make such a difference in our life.
We seem to think we know it all until and the untils in our lives are so important.
I have in my life moved a lot and as I have gotten older I usually hire out the loading and the unloading of the moving truck. My last move was from a third floor apartment and for sure I found people who knew what they were doing. I found some guys who really knew how to handle heavy burdens. And the until here in verse 28 is "heavy burdens." Listen, those heavy burdens you are carrying may have a purpose behind them.
Maybe you are really tired from carrying those heavy burden and that is where Jesus starts. The Message says verses 28-30 this way, "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."
Again, "Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." And there it is. He is the teacher, the right teacher and we will learn to live freely and lightly. And I have found that to be true, really true. It really can make a difference. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
