Saturday... Such good advice. It really is.

Saturday... Such good advice. It really is.

Peter in the last chapter of his first letter says in verse 5b (MSG), "But all of you, leaders and followers alike, are to be down to earth with each other." And verse 6 tells us why, "for - God has had it with the proud, but takes delight in just plain people."

Have you ever been around someone, even worked for someone who is a know it all, who feels they are above you and everyone else? You probably won't go the extra mile for them. So it is very good advice to not be one of those people. Well, God has had it with people like that. The NLT says, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."

And Peter goes on in verses 6 & 7 and they are such important verses. Verse 7 has been one of my life verses. There was a time when I was in my second year of college that I said it over and over to keep me going. Peter writes, "So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor." By the way, who can lift you higher, God or yourself? Just a thought.

He goes on in verse 7. If you humble yourself this is what you can do. You can "Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you." The NIV says, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." In my Sophomore year of college I it seems was saying that over and over, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." Maybe you need to say that over and over during what you are going through right now. He cares for me, he cares for me. So "Give all your worries and cares to God for he cares about you." He really does.

Again, "So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you." Such good advice. It really is and it will make all the difference in your today and all of your life. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning

Wednesday... It didn't just happen.

Psalm 16;10 (NLT), "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." Wednesday... It didn't just happen. We are headed into a weekend of deep emotion. One that we really really love was killed and it didn't just happen. David in Psalm 16:10 (NLT) writes of this happening. He says about God, "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." We read over in the Gospels at the beginning of the New Testament in the Bible of the life of God's Son who came to earth to be our sacrifice so that our soul would not be left among the dead. Jesus came so that we wouldn't have to be buried at death and just left there. But he also shares that Jesus who was going to be killed as a sacrifice for our sins would not have to rot in a grave. David many generations before foretold this and that is what happened. Now that had to be a God thing. We can guess a lot about our future and we d...

Friday... Yes, we need them. We really do

Psalm 8:3-4 (NLT), "When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers - the moon and the stars you set in place - what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?" Friday... Yes, we need them. We really do. No, not the fact that I can go out my front door and look out at night at the marvels of the sky. I can do that and it is amazing and it takes my breath away each time I see it. Yes, that is a fact but the reality of who did that and the wisdom and the faith that I have to believe that and to marvel that the one who did that cares about me makes such a difference in how I live my life. Yes, God really does. That is so wonderful for us to believe. And that is why faith and wisdom are so important. Now whatever belief you have at how that marvel happened must also be believed through faith. And the sad thing to me is that more and more people have been taught that there is no God and therefore he did not have a h...

Wednesday... Our unless can turn into useless.

Wednesday... Our unless can turn into useless.  It really can. I have found that unless I give the correct email of my wife then I can't get what I wanted. I put an extra i in her email and I have been working for 5 days to get it changed. Unless has been useless. The writer of Psalm 94 uses this word and shows how important it is. Verses 17-19 (NLT) says, "Unless the Lord had helped me, I would have soon settled in the silence of the grave. I cried out, 'I'm slipping!' but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer." "Unless the Lord had helped me." So many people go on and on and on striving to live their life on their own but they keep slipping and doubting and living without hope and cheer. Yes the Lord has such unfailing love for us, he really does but unless we have a relationship with him and we turn to him and ask him for help then the unless turns in to useless because h...
