Monday... It can just bring us to tears. There is so much that can happen that can bring us to tears.
We spent time celebrating this weekend the life of a good friend. It was a special time but there is a reality time of they're being gone that can and will brings us to tears.
The loss of a dream can bring us to tears, also deep anxiety. Two of our granddaughters are headed to school today and there can be anxiety there and maybe some tears. Tears can come from many sources. Jesus also wept.
And that was also true of King David. He writes in Psalm 6:6 (NLT), "I am worn out from sobbing. All night I flooded my bed with weeping, drenched with my tears." In verse 7 he shares the reason for his tears. He says, "My vision is blurred by grief; my eyes are worn out because of all my enemies." There is no condemnation here for his tears, there is just reality and honesty.
Maybe that is where you are or where someone close to you is today. But David doesn't stop there. Yes, he is honest but then he says in verses 8-10 (NIRV), "Get away from me, all who do evil. The Lord has heard my weeping. The Lord has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord accepts my prayer. All my enemies will be covered with shame and trouble. They will turn back in shame. It will happen suddenly."
Yes, David was in deep distress, he was worn out by his sobbing but he didn't stop there. He took hold of himself and in that he realized that he was not alone. He said, "The Lord has heard my weeping. The Lord has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord accepts my prayer." God knows all about what you are going through, what is causing your tears and he is not condemning you, but he has heard your weeping.
And here is the key, David in his weeping cried out to the Lord because he knew that the Lord will hear his weeping but he also will hear his cry for mercy. And the Lord will accept his prayer.
In our pain, we are not alone. The Lord hears our weeping but he also hears when our weeping turns into our crying out to him. You see, whatever it is that is causing your weeping is no match to God. Our weeping can turn into crying out to the one who can make a difference.
Now in our grieving there are steps to living with the loss and it takes time but it starts with realizing that the Lord hears our weeping and he hears our cry for mercy and he will accept our pray. And he also will lead us to those who will help in the process.
Yes, life can bring us to tears but we are not alone. The Lord hears our weeping. He will accept our prayer. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
