Thursday... Why, oh why? But we can!
Here, look at what the Apostle Paul writes to the church in Corinth. 1 Corinthians 1:24-25 (NLT) says, "But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God's weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength."
But the two verses right before this, verses 22-23 says, "It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom. So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it is all nonsense."
And I ask, why, oh why?
Now, I understand that many people didn't have the opportunity to be raised by Christian parents. They may have been raised by parents who put down the fact that some simpletons believe there is a God. They look down on believers so they never have given themselves the chance to believe that Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God and to see that "this foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God's weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength."
But we can!
You see, everyone of us can believe this to be true and reap the benefit of having a relationship with a God who is wiser than the wisest of human plans and whose weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.
We have all been called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles. We too can have a relationship with God and reap the benefits of that relationship. And I am so glad that that the Apostle Paul shared that fact with us.
He also said in verses 26-31 (NIRV), "Brothers and sister, think of what you were when God chose you. Not many of you were considered wise by human standards. Not many of you belonged to important families. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the things of this world that are common and looked down on. God chose things considered unimportant. So no one can boast to God. Because of what God has done, you belong to Christ Jesus. He has become God's wisdom for us. He makes us right with God. He makes us holy and sets us free. It is written, 'The one who boasts should boast about what the Lord has done.' (Jeremiah 9:24)"
So because of what God has done, we can belong to Christ Jesus. Yes we can! Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
