Friday... They really can be mighty.
Storms in our lives can really be mighty. The Psalms in the OT can be a great place to go when we are facing mighty storms. Have you found that so or do you face them all on your own? When I face them on my own it seems that the storms have more power especially in me and my emotions.
Psalm 93:3 (NLT) says, "The floods have risen up, O Lord. The floods have roared like thunder, the floods have lifted their pounding waves." Now that may speak to where you are today. When I face them on my own I seem to go to a dark spot where my emotions take over and I become very difficult to live with. That is not a fun place to be.
But the Psalmist doesn't stop there. Verse 4 says, "But mightier than the violent raging of the seas, mightier than the breakers on the shore - the Lord above is mightier than these."
I have an adirondack chair out in my backyard which is a great place to go during those dark times and where I can pour it all out to God and have His Spirit rework the inner emotions which have risen up within me and have lifted their pounding waves. We need to go to a place and pour out all that is churning within us and reinforce that God is mightier than the violent raging seas, mightier than the breakers on the shore, "the Lord is mightier than these."
The Amplified Bible says it this way, just pray this, "The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their pounding waves. More than the sound of many waters, more than the mighty breakers of the sea, the Lord on high is mighty."
And then verse 5 (MSG), "What you say goes - it always has. 'Beauty' and 'Holy' mark your palace rule, God, to the very end of time."
Yes we may at some times in our life see life from the dark side but that is not the side of God. "'Beauty' and 'Holy' mark your palace rule, God, to the very end of time." and "What you say goes, it always has."
We sometimes need a readjustment of our view to God's view and His Holy Spirit is the One who does that. Just go to Him and ask Him to do it. And always remember, "the Lord is mightier than these." Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
