Saturday... So this is that day.

Saturday... So this is that day.

Today is April Fools' Day. This is the day that someone says to you something like, "Your shoe is untied" and we look and they say "April Fool" Or, "Your mom doesn't love you" and then, "April Fool".  Now this is not the only day that some do that. There is so much unreasonable stuff being said and people believe it, even living by it. Everyday is April Fools' Day to some.

Now David wrote something in Psalm 31 that some would say is an April Fools' joke. Verse 14 (NLT) says, "But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying 'You are my God!'" And to many they would say that is a joke. But not to me. I have found that to be the true way to live.

In verse 18 David says, "Silence their lying lips - those proud and arrogant lips that accuse the godly." He goes on in verses 19-20, "How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world. You hide then in the shelter of your presence, safe from those who conspire against them. You shelter them in your presence, far from the accusing tongues."

And then in verse 23 he writes, "Love the Lord, all you godly ones!" And this is no joke! "For the Lord protects those who are loyal to him, but he harshly punishes the arrogant." And that is the truth! So, don't listen to anyone who says it isn't. And then verse 24 says, "So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the Lord." And that is no April Fools' joke. That is the truth!

So let's not let the world put us down but let's be strong and courageous and put our hope in the Lord. Let's do it!  Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning

Wednesday... It didn't just happen.

Psalm 16;10 (NLT), "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." Wednesday... It didn't just happen. We are headed into a weekend of deep emotion. One that we really really love was killed and it didn't just happen. David in Psalm 16:10 (NLT) writes of this happening. He says about God, "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." We read over in the Gospels at the beginning of the New Testament in the Bible of the life of God's Son who came to earth to be our sacrifice so that our soul would not be left among the dead. Jesus came so that we wouldn't have to be buried at death and just left there. But he also shares that Jesus who was going to be killed as a sacrifice for our sins would not have to rot in a grave. David many generations before foretold this and that is what happened. Now that had to be a God thing. We can guess a lot about our future and we d...

Friday... Yes, we need them. We really do

Psalm 8:3-4 (NLT), "When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers - the moon and the stars you set in place - what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?" Friday... Yes, we need them. We really do. No, not the fact that I can go out my front door and look out at night at the marvels of the sky. I can do that and it is amazing and it takes my breath away each time I see it. Yes, that is a fact but the reality of who did that and the wisdom and the faith that I have to believe that and to marvel that the one who did that cares about me makes such a difference in how I live my life. Yes, God really does. That is so wonderful for us to believe. And that is why faith and wisdom are so important. Now whatever belief you have at how that marvel happened must also be believed through faith. And the sad thing to me is that more and more people have been taught that there is no God and therefore he did not have a h...

Wednesday... Our unless can turn into useless.

Wednesday... Our unless can turn into useless.  It really can. I have found that unless I give the correct email of my wife then I can't get what I wanted. I put an extra i in her email and I have been working for 5 days to get it changed. Unless has been useless. The writer of Psalm 94 uses this word and shows how important it is. Verses 17-19 (NLT) says, "Unless the Lord had helped me, I would have soon settled in the silence of the grave. I cried out, 'I'm slipping!' but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer." "Unless the Lord had helped me." So many people go on and on and on striving to live their life on their own but they keep slipping and doubting and living without hope and cheer. Yes the Lord has such unfailing love for us, he really does but unless we have a relationship with him and we turn to him and ask him for help then the unless turns in to useless because h...
