Saturday... There can be a calmness in our life. Yes there can.
Psalm 131:1-2a (NLT) says, "My heart is not proud, Lord, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matter or things too wonderful for me. But I have calmed myself." The Message says, "I've kept my feet on the ground, I've cultivated a quiet heart." I have calmed myself, I've cultivated a quiet heart.
Over in Proverbs 11:2 in the Amplified Bible it says, "When pride comes [boiling up with an arrogant attitude of self-importance], then come dishonor and shame, but with the humble [the teachable who have been chiseled by trial and who have learned to walk humbly with God] there is wisdom and soundness of mind." Boiling up with an arrogant attitude of self-importance doesn't sound like calmness but soundness of mind does and that comes from walking humbly with God.
Calmness doesn't come from being proud but it does come from being humble, being dependent on God, being teachable through the difficulties of life. And here is the key. Psalm 131:3 says, "put your hope in the Lord - now and always." So let's cultivate a quiet heart by putting our (AMP) "hope in the Lord from this time forth and forever."
Cultivating a quiet heart, calming yourself comes by putting our hope in the Lord from this time forth and forever. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
