Monday... It can be done.
I have lived in two different deserts in my life. I have lived in the Sonoran and the Mojave deserts and I have seen what water can do. I have also seen what can happen if the water supply is running low.
And the writer of Psalm 126 uses the desert as an example of our lives. He prays in verse 4 (NLT), "Restore our fortunes, Lord, as streams renew the desert." We have had some rains this past year that are helping our water supply here in Las Vegas, in the Mojave desert. Water makes all the difference in the desert. And God makes all the difference in our lives.
Now maybe this could be your prayer today. Verses 4-6 (MSG) says, "And now, God, do it again - bring rains to our drought-stricken lives so those who planted their crops in despair will shout, 'Yes!' at the harvest, so those who went off with heavy hearts will come home laughing with armloads of blessing." And that can be true in our lives today.
Jesus over in Matthew 11:28-30 says, "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."
Matthew 11:28 says in the NLT, "Then Jesus said, 'Come to me, all of your who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." He wants to restore our fortunes, He wants to bring rains to our drought-stricken lives. Again, "Jesus said, 'Come to me." Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
