Thursday... Maybe you need this fix today.

Thursday... Maybe you need this fix today. How has your day started?

In Psalm 42 and 43 the Psalmist repeats himself. Some even think that these two Psalms were one Psalm at one time. It seems that this Psalmist was going through a down time and needed a fix. Maybe you are too.

The Psalmist asks a very good question in Psalm 42:5, 11 and Psalm 43:5 (MSG). He asks a question that many of us could be asking in what we have been and are going though. He asks himself, "Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues?" If we were with you today, could we ask you that question and of course you could come back with some great answers. Somehow we thought this would be over by now and we could get back to what our life used to be like.

Now the answer is found in what we are fixing your eyes on. Yes there is a lot around us that is bringing us down, down, down. But the Psalmist writes, "Fix my eyes on God - soon I'll be praising again. He puts a smile on my face. He's my God."

Everyday after I have gotten us from my night of rest and have cleaned up and put clean clothes on, I then open up all the window blinds to let the light in, I sit in one particular chair and give thanks to God for so many good things in my life. I give Him thanks. I fix my eyes on what God has done for me. That is a great way to start my day. I did that this morning and then fixed me something to eat and then back to the same chair to connect with God through prayer and His Word. Now that's one way to fix your eyes on God.

Yes, life can be rough right now but God takes bad and turns it into good.

"Why are you so down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues? Fix my eyes on God - soon I'll be praising again. He puts a smile on my face. He's my God." Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning

Wednesday... It didn't just happen.

Psalm 16;10 (NLT), "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." Wednesday... It didn't just happen. We are headed into a weekend of deep emotion. One that we really really love was killed and it didn't just happen. David in Psalm 16:10 (NLT) writes of this happening. He says about God, "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." We read over in the Gospels at the beginning of the New Testament in the Bible of the life of God's Son who came to earth to be our sacrifice so that our soul would not be left among the dead. Jesus came so that we wouldn't have to be buried at death and just left there. But he also shares that Jesus who was going to be killed as a sacrifice for our sins would not have to rot in a grave. David many generations before foretold this and that is what happened. Now that had to be a God thing. We can guess a lot about our future and we d...

Friday... Yes, we need them. We really do

Psalm 8:3-4 (NLT), "When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers - the moon and the stars you set in place - what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?" Friday... Yes, we need them. We really do. No, not the fact that I can go out my front door and look out at night at the marvels of the sky. I can do that and it is amazing and it takes my breath away each time I see it. Yes, that is a fact but the reality of who did that and the wisdom and the faith that I have to believe that and to marvel that the one who did that cares about me makes such a difference in how I live my life. Yes, God really does. That is so wonderful for us to believe. And that is why faith and wisdom are so important. Now whatever belief you have at how that marvel happened must also be believed through faith. And the sad thing to me is that more and more people have been taught that there is no God and therefore he did not have a h...

Wednesday... Our unless can turn into useless.

Wednesday... Our unless can turn into useless.  It really can. I have found that unless I give the correct email of my wife then I can't get what I wanted. I put an extra i in her email and I have been working for 5 days to get it changed. Unless has been useless. The writer of Psalm 94 uses this word and shows how important it is. Verses 17-19 (NLT) says, "Unless the Lord had helped me, I would have soon settled in the silence of the grave. I cried out, 'I'm slipping!' but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer." "Unless the Lord had helped me." So many people go on and on and on striving to live their life on their own but they keep slipping and doubting and living without hope and cheer. Yes the Lord has such unfailing love for us, he really does but unless we have a relationship with him and we turn to him and ask him for help then the unless turns in to useless because h...
