Friday... Here are some really, good thoughts for today.

Friday... Here are some really, good thoughts for today.

We really do need the thoughts of Proverbs everyday. This is the 10th day of the month so here are some thoughts from Proverbs 10.

Verse 3 (NLT), "The Lord will not let the godly go hungry, but he refuses to satisfy the craving of the wicked."

Here is maybe the reason why, verse 4, "Lazy people are soon poor; hard workers get rich."  One of the things that I learned from my dad was to be a hard worker. And we were rich in so many different ways. He was a great example.

Verse 5, "A wise youth harvests in the summer, but one who sleeps during harvest is a disgrace." Here is how the Message Paraphrase says it, "Make hay while the sun shines - that's smart; go fishing during harvest - that's stupid." I love that!

Verse 7 (NLT), "A good and honest life is a blessed memorial; a wicked life leaves a rotten stench." Now that is true.

Here is one that really speaks to the day in which we are living, verse 12 (NLT), "Hatred stirs up quarrels, but love makes up for all offenses." MSG, "Hatred starts fights, but love pulls a quilt over the bickering." Wow do we need that Proverb today, don't we? There is so much hatred out there. And we really do need more people who will pull quilts over it. Yes, the internet is a great place to spew hatred but it is also a great place for God's people to show love by pulling quilts out over all the hatred. Oh, that we would have more people doing that. Hatred begets hatred and love begets love.

I'll stop there. I love love that, "but love pulls a quilt over the bickering." Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning

Friday... Yes, we need them. We really do

Psalm 8:3-4 (NLT), "When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers - the moon and the stars you set in place - what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?" Friday... Yes, we need them. We really do. No, not the fact that I can go out my front door and look out at night at the marvels of the sky. I can do that and it is amazing and it takes my breath away each time I see it. Yes, that is a fact but the reality of who did that and the wisdom and the faith that I have to believe that and to marvel that the one who did that cares about me makes such a difference in how I live my life. Yes, God really does. That is so wonderful for us to believe. And that is why faith and wisdom are so important. Now whatever belief you have at how that marvel happened must also be believed through faith. And the sad thing to me is that more and more people have been taught that there is no God and therefore he did not have a h...

Wednesday... Our unless can turn into useless.

Wednesday... Our unless can turn into useless.  It really can. I have found that unless I give the correct email of my wife then I can't get what I wanted. I put an extra i in her email and I have been working for 5 days to get it changed. Unless has been useless. The writer of Psalm 94 uses this word and shows how important it is. Verses 17-19 (NLT) says, "Unless the Lord had helped me, I would have soon settled in the silence of the grave. I cried out, 'I'm slipping!' but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer." "Unless the Lord had helped me." So many people go on and on and on striving to live their life on their own but they keep slipping and doubting and living without hope and cheer. Yes the Lord has such unfailing love for us, he really does but unless we have a relationship with him and we turn to him and ask him for help then the unless turns in to useless because h...

Wednesday... It didn't just happen.

Psalm 16;10 (NLT), "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." Wednesday... It didn't just happen. We are headed into a weekend of deep emotion. One that we really really love was killed and it didn't just happen. David in Psalm 16:10 (NLT) writes of this happening. He says about God, "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." We read over in the Gospels at the beginning of the New Testament in the Bible of the life of God's Son who came to earth to be our sacrifice so that our soul would not be left among the dead. Jesus came so that we wouldn't have to be buried at death and just left there. But he also shares that Jesus who was going to be killed as a sacrifice for our sins would not have to rot in a grave. David many generations before foretold this and that is what happened. Now that had to be a God thing. We can guess a lot about our future and we d...
