Friday... Here is a word we may need for today. It is the word content.
Here is what Psalm 131 (MSG) says to us today, "God, I'm not trying to rule the roost. I don't want to rule the mountain." Now this is what a lot of us need to work on to be content, isn't it? There is so much for us to accomplish but the reason what and why is so important for us to see and reevaluate.
He goes on, "I haven't meddled where I have no business or fantasized grandiose plans. I've kept my feet on the ground. I've cultivated a quiet heart." And here is the picture. "Like a baby content in its mother's arms, my soul is a baby content." The NIRV says, "Deep down inside me, I am as content as a young child." Now that is what we need, isn't it?
And then verse 3, " Israel, put your hope in the Lord both now and forevermore." Now that is the path to being content. It's not all on me, the reason I live each day is based on what I hope for and my hope is not in grandiose ideas, not in ruling the roost, being top dog, it's not in being in others business, no my hope is in the Lord. And in that I can cultivate a quiet heart and I can be content. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
