Wednesday... There are so many thoughts that run through our mind. So what do we do with them?
Some we need to grab on to and strive to live them out. Others we just need to let them fly through but too many times those are the ones we grab on to. And too many of those have to do with our self and our rights and our importance, and our pettiness and those we need to kick out, get rid of and let them pass on through.
So many times it is so easy to complacently be pleased with ourselves and look down our noses at other people. But Jesus said in Luke 18:14b (MSG), "If you walk around with your nose in the air, you're going to end up flat on your face, but if you're content to be simply yourself, you become more than yourself."
The Amplified Bible translation says, "...for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself [forsaking self-righteous pride] will be exalted." But these thoughts go through our mind but I deserve respect but I deserve this or that, look what I do but that self-righteous pride gets us nowhere. Just let those thought go on through.
To reinforce what Jesus said, the New Living Translation says, "For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted." Let's make sure we grab on to that thought. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
