Saturday... He listens to me, He really does...

Saturday... He listens to me, He really does. Is that important to you?

The Psalmist in Psalm 116:1 (MSG) writes, "I love God because he listens to me."

We love to be listened too. We love to tell someone our problems, our opinions, our interests, our fears, our angers, our needs and they listen, they really listen. But you might say, I don't have anyone like that.

The Amplified Bible says, "I love the Lord because He hears [and continues to hear] my voice and my supplications (my pleas, my cries, my specific needs)."

Now we may think that when we talk no one is listening but when you talk, God is listening. He cares about you and He shows that by listening to you.

The Psalmist in verse 2 goes on, "Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call on Him as long as I live." And He makes a difference.

Verse 5 (MSG) says, "God is gracious-it is He who makes things right, our most compassionate God." He can make a difference and He listens. "God takes the side of the helpless; when I was at the end of my rope, he saved me."

Margaret and I give our kids and grandkids the chance to make a list of what they want for Christmas and it is so fun for us to see their faces when they rip that paper off and see that what they got was on their list. They love it. Papa and Gigi listened to me. They know what is on my list and God knows what is on your list. They listened to me.

The New Living Bible says, verses. 1-5, "I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath! Death wrapped its ropes around me; the terrors of the grave overtook me. I saw only trouble and sorrow. Then I called on the name of the Lord: 'Please, Lord, save me!' How kind the Lord is! How good he is! So merciful, this God of ours!"

He listens, He really does so then call on Him. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning

Wednesday... It didn't just happen.

Psalm 16;10 (NLT), "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." Wednesday... It didn't just happen. We are headed into a weekend of deep emotion. One that we really really love was killed and it didn't just happen. David in Psalm 16:10 (NLT) writes of this happening. He says about God, "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." We read over in the Gospels at the beginning of the New Testament in the Bible of the life of God's Son who came to earth to be our sacrifice so that our soul would not be left among the dead. Jesus came so that we wouldn't have to be buried at death and just left there. But he also shares that Jesus who was going to be killed as a sacrifice for our sins would not have to rot in a grave. David many generations before foretold this and that is what happened. Now that had to be a God thing. We can guess a lot about our future and we d...

Friday... Yes, we need them. We really do

Psalm 8:3-4 (NLT), "When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers - the moon and the stars you set in place - what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?" Friday... Yes, we need them. We really do. No, not the fact that I can go out my front door and look out at night at the marvels of the sky. I can do that and it is amazing and it takes my breath away each time I see it. Yes, that is a fact but the reality of who did that and the wisdom and the faith that I have to believe that and to marvel that the one who did that cares about me makes such a difference in how I live my life. Yes, God really does. That is so wonderful for us to believe. And that is why faith and wisdom are so important. Now whatever belief you have at how that marvel happened must also be believed through faith. And the sad thing to me is that more and more people have been taught that there is no God and therefore he did not have a h...

Wednesday... Our unless can turn into useless.

Wednesday... Our unless can turn into useless.  It really can. I have found that unless I give the correct email of my wife then I can't get what I wanted. I put an extra i in her email and I have been working for 5 days to get it changed. Unless has been useless. The writer of Psalm 94 uses this word and shows how important it is. Verses 17-19 (NLT) says, "Unless the Lord had helped me, I would have soon settled in the silence of the grave. I cried out, 'I'm slipping!' but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer." "Unless the Lord had helped me." So many people go on and on and on striving to live their life on their own but they keep slipping and doubting and living without hope and cheer. Yes the Lord has such unfailing love for us, he really does but unless we have a relationship with him and we turn to him and ask him for help then the unless turns in to useless because h...
