Thursday... There is also a purpose in this emotion.
We were created to be emotional beings and each emotion has a purpose. Now we love being happy. Happiness is a very good emotion but so is sadness. It too has a purpose.
The Apostle Paul in writing to the church in Corinth says in 2 Corinthians 7:9 (NIRV), "Now I am happy. I'm not happy because you were made sad. I'm happy because your sadness led you to turn away from your sins. You became sad just as God wanted you to. So you were not hurt in any way by us."
Now I am a very positive person and I do what I can to encourage people to see the positive side but there is also a sorrowful side that God uses. Sorrow has its place in our lives.
But sorrow is not there just to make people feel bad, it is there to change people. Let's say that we are love at all cost people. That is what some believe and they believe suffering consequences because of wrong choices is not love. But that is not true. As Paul said, "I'm happy because your sadness led you to turn away from your sins."
In verse 10 (NLT) he writes, "For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There's no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death."
He goes on. Verse 11 says, "Just see what this godly sorrow produced in you! Such earnestness, such concern to clear yourselves, such indignation, such alarm, such longing to see me, such zeal, and such readiness to punish wrong. You showed that you have done everything necessary to make things right."
Yes, God knew what he is doing when he placed the potential for sadness in us. Again God knows what he is doing There is a purpose in sadness. Sadness can change people. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
