Tuesday... We think we really know what makes sense.
Yes, maybe we do need to run but where do we run? And that is the question when bad times are happening around us. King David in Psalm 11 knows where to run. He knows what really makes sense.
David says in verses 1-3 (MSG), "I've already run for dear life straight to the arms of God." That's what I've done. But someone else has a different perspective and David says to them, "So why would I run away now when you say, 'Run to the mountains;'" That would make sense to someone who doesn't have a relationship with God. No, don't run to God, run to the mountains. But David goes on. They say, "Run to the mountains; the evil bows are bent, the wicked arrows aimed to shoot under cover of darkness at every heart opened to God. The bottoms dropped out of the country; good people don't have a chance." Run to the mountains is what really makes sense. You good people don't have a chance. But is that true?
God made those mountains. He's bigger than those mountains. He has what it takes to take care of all that is being thrown at those good people whose heart is opened to God. Yes, you think we don't know what we are doing but the truth is you don't really know what God has done and what he can do.
David says in verse 4, "But God hasn't moved to the mountains; his holy address hasn't changed. He's in charge, as always, his eyes taking everything in, his eyelids unblinking, examining Adam's flesh and blood inside and out, not missing a thing." He sees the whole picture. He knows what is happening. No, it's not the good people who don't have a chance.
You see, verse 7 says, "God's business is putting things right; he loves getting the lines straight, setting us straight. Once we're standing tall, we can look him straight in the eye." God knows what is happening. He is using this to get us where he wants us. He is the one we run to. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
