Friday... Such a gift, such an overwhelming gift!
David writes in Psalm 21:2 (NLT), "For you have given him his heart's desire; you have withheld nothing he requested." Please note that he says, "his heart's desire."
In verse 4 it says, "He asked you to preserve his life, and you granted his request. The days of his life stretch on forever."
Over in Proverbs 21:1 it says, "The king's heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; he guides it wherever he pleases." And verse 2 (AMP), "Every man's way is right in his own eyes, but the Lord examines the hearts [of people and their motives]." And that is so important for us to know.
Look at Proverbs 24:12 (NLT), "Don't excuse yourself by saying, 'Look, we didn't know.' For God understands all hearts, and he sees you. He who guards your soul knows you knew. He will repay all people their actions."
And then the verse that caught my attention today. It was the last verse that I read. Romans 6:23 says, "For the waged of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." And that is such a great gift. It is such a gift. It really is.
In verses 16-18 it says, "Don't you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living. Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you wholeheartedly obey the teaching we gave you. Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living."
Romans 3:22-23, "We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely made us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty of our sins."
And again Romans 6:23 in the Amplified Bible says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God [that is, His remarkable, overwhelming gift of grace to believers] is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." And that is an overwhelming gift of grace! Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
