Tuesday... He knows what he will be doing. He really does.
We may be facing it seems an impossible situation. We have no idea what we are going to do. Maybe that is where you are today.
Over in John 6:5 (NLT) it says, "Jesus soon saw a huge crowd of people coming to look for him." And he saw a problem. Now he sees what we are facing today. He really does. And it is so important for us to be reminded of what King David knew. In Psalm 86:30 he says, "For you are great and perform wonderful deeds. You alone are God." That is so important for us to remember.
John continues in verse 5, He says, "Turning to Philip, he asked, 'Where can we buy bread to feed these people?'" God knows what is happening in our life. He knows the impossible situation that we may be facing. Verse 6 continues, "He was testing Philip, for he already knew what he was going to do."
Could it be that he is testing us, seeing how we are going to handle what we are facing.
Now Philip had a great human assessment of the problem. Later in this story John says there are over 5,000 people here. And in verse 7, "Philip replied, 'Even if we worked for months, we wouldn't have enough money to feed them!'" Do we have a realistic assessment of our impossible problem?
Verses 8-9 says, "Then Andrew, Simon Peter's brother spoke up, 'There's a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd?'"
So what is it that you have? There is something there in your life that God can use. Think about it, pray about it. What is it that we have and that we can do that God can use to solve the problem? Remember, what David said about our God, "For you are great and perform wonderful deeds. You alone are God." We are not in this alone if we have a relationship with God. Remember, "For you are great and perform wonderful deeds. You alone are God." For one, we have God who can take what we have and multiply it.
Verses 11-12 says, "Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and distributed them to the people. Afterward he did the same with the fish. And they ate as much as they wanted. And everyone was full, Jesus told his disciples, 'Now gather the leftovers, so that nothing will be wasted.'" He used what they had to solve the impossible situation they were facing.
So stop and think. What is it in my life that he can use? Do a realistic assessment of your situation and think what you have that you can give to God to use. And remember, "For you are great and perform wonderful deeds. You alone are God." Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
