Thursday... He will bend down.
I have had a problem with my hearing for quite awhile now. I either have to say nothing and guess what they say or say, "What did you say?" because I really did want to know what they said.
In those beginning years of being a parent, I wanted to hear everything Brett and Stefanie would say so sometimes I had to bend down to hear what they were saying because what they said was so very important to me. And it still is to me.
Look at this. The writer of Psalm 86 in verse 1 (NLT) says, "Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer." Now he is God and of course he can hear my prayer but it is very important to us that he hears our prayer. We need him to hear our pray. So, God, would you come near to me, would you bend down so you can hear my prayer? Would you?
Now the truth is, most of our prayers are silent but he still hears us. He really does.
So, what do you need God to bend down and hear from you today?
For me it is hard to realize how many prayers are being prayed to God right now and that he hears everyone of them, everyone of them matter to him and he doesn't need to bow down because he is God but it just shows how much our prayers matter to us when we ask him bend down.
Now verses 1-7 tells us King David's prayer. I mean he is a king, a wealthy king. He doesn't need to pray, does he? But everyone of us need God, we need to have him bend down and hear our prayer.
Maybe David's prayer in verses 1-7 (NLT) is what you need to pray today. David prays, "Bend down O Lord, and hear my prayer, answer me, for I need your help. Protect me, for I am devoted to you. You are my God. Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I am calling on you constantly. Give me happiness, O Lord, for I give myself to you. O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help. Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord, hear my urgent cry. I will call to you whenever I'm in trouble, and you will answer me."
He then ends this prayer in verse 17 and he says, "Send me a sign of your favor. Then those who hate me will be put to shame, for you, O Lord, help and comfort me."
Of course, each prayer is personal but it also could be good to make this your prayer, today. There is power in praying Scripture and you may need God the way that David needed him and so you can pray what he prayed. Our Lord really does care. And you can know that he will bend down to hear your prayer. He really will. And he is doing that right now because what you are saying is so very important to him. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
