Friday... Maybe we need what we are going through.
The writer of Psalm 66:10-11 (NLT) says, "You have tested us. O God; you have purified us like silver. You captured us in your net and laid the burden of slavery on our backs." Yes God had a purpose for his people when they were Egyptian slaves.
He goes on. Verse 12 says, "Then you put a leader over us. We went through fire and flood, but you brought us to a place of great abundance." It took a long time because of their disobedience.
The prophet Isaiah had an unbelievable experience. In chapter 6 of his book he writes in verses 6-9, "Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. He touched my lips with it and said, 'See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins forgiven.' Then I heard the Lord asking, 'Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us? I said, 'Here I am. Send me."
And then over in the book of Hebrews in chapter 5 there is this verse. Verse 8 says, "Even though Jesus was God's Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered."
And then verses 12-14, "You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you the basic things about God's word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn't know how to do right. Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skills to recognize the difference between right and wrong."
Maybe we do need what we are going through. So let's not waste what we are going through. Let's learn and mature so we can be open to what God has for us Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
