Friday... But we can live with confidence.
Solomon in Ecclesiastes 8:17 (NLT) says, "I realized that no one can discover everything God is doing under the sun. Not even the wisest people discover everything, no matter what they claim." And yes, that is so true. The NIV says, "Even if they know, they can't really comprehend it." And that is true.
Now 1 Thessalonians 5:2 (NLT) says, "For you know the day of the Lord's return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night." Yes, we don't know when that will happen.
But there are two "buts" in verses 4-8. It says, "But you aren't in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won't be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief. For you are all children of the day, we don't belong to darkness and night. So be on your guard, not asleep like others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. Night is the time when people sleep and drinkers get drunk. But let us live in the light, clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation."
Verse 8 in the Amplified Bible says, "But since we [believers] belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope and confident assurance of salvation." Yes, we can live with confidence.
Verses 9-11 (NLT) goes on to say, "For God chose to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us. Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him forever. So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing."
Some people have problems when Christ followers saying they are saved. But verse 9 says, "For God chose to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us." But we must accept what Christ has done. He died to save us but we must choose to accept it and when we do then we will be saved from his pouring out his anger on us. we will live with him forever. And we will wear "as a helmet, the hope and confident assurance of salvation."
So if we accept what Christ death has done for us then we can live each day clearheaded with confidence. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
