Thursday... It really is a good thing to do. It really is.

Thursday... It really is a good thing to do. It really is.

It really is a good thing to start your day by looking back on yesterday and thanking God for the good things He did for you.

Psalm 9:1 (AMP) says, "I will give thanks and praise the Lord, with all my heart; I will tell aloud all Your wonders and marvelous deeds." The Message says, "I am thanking you, God, from a full heart, I'm writing the book on your wonders."

I know, I know, I don't usually do what someone says to do either but it really is a good thing to do. For sure the enemy will let you know all the bad that happened to you and he'll put a blame in there for what God didn't do. That is usually how we start our day. But starting your day with not having a place in your heart for the bad but having it filled with the good is really a good thing to do.

I know it is hard because usually we start the day with turning on the bad news and then see what people are saying on the internet and we start depressed and anxious. It is all in our focus.

Now here is what verses 1-2 says in the New Living Translation, "I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; and tell of all the marvelous things you have done. I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name, O Most High."

Verse 2 in The Message says, "I'm whistling, laughing, and jumping for joy; I'm singing your song, High God."

My wife, Margaret, has been in Chicago the past three days. She is a consultant and before Covid she was away quite a bit. Well, in my loneliness yesterday a thought came to me. And it was that God gave us what we needed even when we didn't know we needed it. I never would have thought that we needed a dog. But God did and He gave us Turner and Turner made all the difference in the last few days and in truth everyday. God is so good to us. So instead of dwelling on my loneliness I thanked Him for the marvelous thing He did.

Now I'm getting a little emotional about this. God is so good to me. And I started my day in thanking Him specifically for what He did for me yesterday.

Later in verses 9-11(NLT) David the writer of this Psalm says, "The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you. Sing praises to the Lord who reigns in Jerusalem. Tell the world about his unforgettable deeds." So let's start our day doing that and seeing that is really is a good thing to do. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginnng

Monday... He did it by Himself

Isaiah 44:24b (AMP), "I am the Lord, Maker of all things. Who alone stretches out the heavens, Who spreads out the earth by Myself." Monday... He did it by Himself. Many have a tendency to think very highly of themselves and what they can do. Oh we do have great ability but we are not the source. Yes it is important to have self-confidence but we are limited. The prophet Isaiah in 44:9-10 (NLT) says, "How foolish are those who manufacture idols. These prized objects are really worthless. The people who worship idols don't know this, so they are all put to shame. Who but a fool would make his own god - an idol that cannot help him one bit?" Now later in verse 24 (AMP) he writes, "For the Lord, your Redeemer, and He who formed you from the womb says, 'I am the Lord, Maker of all things, Who alone stretches out the heavens, Who spreads out the earth by Myself.'" I love that. "By Myself." Now we do need confidence but we are foolish to ma...

Wednesday... It didn't just happen.

Psalm 16;10 (NLT), "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." Wednesday... It didn't just happen. We are headed into a weekend of deep emotion. One that we really really love was killed and it didn't just happen. David in Psalm 16:10 (NLT) writes of this happening. He says about God, "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." We read over in the Gospels at the beginning of the New Testament in the Bible of the life of God's Son who came to earth to be our sacrifice so that our soul would not be left among the dead. Jesus came so that we wouldn't have to be buried at death and just left there. But he also shares that Jesus who was going to be killed as a sacrifice for our sins would not have to rot in a grave. David many generations before foretold this and that is what happened. Now that had to be a God thing. We can guess a lot about our future and we d...

Friday... Yes, we need them. We really do

Psalm 8:3-4 (NLT), "When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers - the moon and the stars you set in place - what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?" Friday... Yes, we need them. We really do. No, not the fact that I can go out my front door and look out at night at the marvels of the sky. I can do that and it is amazing and it takes my breath away each time I see it. Yes, that is a fact but the reality of who did that and the wisdom and the faith that I have to believe that and to marvel that the one who did that cares about me makes such a difference in how I live my life. Yes, God really does. That is so wonderful for us to believe. And that is why faith and wisdom are so important. Now whatever belief you have at how that marvel happened must also be believed through faith. And the sad thing to me is that more and more people have been taught that there is no God and therefore he did not have a h...
