Saturday... Some things we can do alone.
There are but not all things. There are some things that are good to do with others.
Psalm 111:1-2 (AMP) says, "Praise the Lord (Hallelujah!) I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart, in the company of the upright and in the congregation. Great are the works of the Lord, studied by those who delight in them."
We can study alone and it is a very good thing to do. I can listen to sermons, I can read my Bible and other books that can give me understanding and highlight the works of the Lord, alone. We can have our quiet time alone and we can give thanks to God alone but it is also a very good thing to do it "in the company of the upright and in the congregation." There is power in worshiping with others because it strengthens us to see that we are not alone and it strengths others when they realize that they are not alone.
I know there have been some who take this too far and have changed churches over this issue. COVID was a divisive thing in so many ways. And that is wrong in so many ways. I can give thanks and worship without other people. There are some people who cannot worship with others. And the legalissom of some brings judgement on those and that is not right.
It says, "I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart, in the company of the upright and in the congregation" and if we really have studied the great works of the Lord and delight in them then we would really be ready to lift our hands in praise instead of in judgment.
So let's get that out of our system and come together for the right reason and lift each other up through our praise and thanksgiving.
Verses 1- 4 (NLT) says, "Praise the Lord! I will thank the Lord with all my heart as I meet with his goodly people. How amazing are the deeds of the Lord! All who delight in him should ponder them. Everything he does reveals his glory and majesty. His righteousness never fails. He causes us to remember his wonderful works. How gracious and merciful is our Lord!" And that is so true. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
