Monday... There is so much that we take for granted. There really is. The time change reminds of that. I got up in the dark today.
The writer of Psalm 104 in verses 19-21 (NLT) reminds us, "You made the moon to mark the seasons, and the sun knows when to set. You send darkness, and it becomes night, when all the forest animals prowl about. Then the young lions roar for their prey, stalking the food provided by God. At dawn they slink back into their dens to rest. Then people go off to their work, where they labor until evening."
Verse 24 says, "O Lord, what a variety of things you have made! In wisdom you have made them all." God has made it all and it is so easy to take it all for granted, isn't it? Even the job that we head out to do five days a week, we can take for granted. Proverbs 14:23 (MSG) says, "Hard work always pays off; mere talk puts no bread on the table."
And then back to Psalm 104, beginning in verse 31 (NLT), "May the glory of the Lord continue forever! The Lord takes pleasure in all he made! The earth trembles at his glance; the mountains smoke at his touch."
And then verses 33 & 34 says, "I will sing to the Lord as long as I live. I will praise my God to my last breath! May all my thoughts be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord."
I really think it is a good thing to not take so much that God has given us for granted, maybe even our work. Let's remember, "The Lord takes pleasure in all he made!" And "I will sing to the Lord as long as I live." Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
