Friday... Oh what joy. I know, I know. Some would say, oh what joy it's Friday. The work week is over. And that is a good thing to celebrate. But that is not what David is celebrating.
In Psalm 32:1 & 2 (NLT) he says, "Oh what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight!" I love that, it's put out of sight. "Yes! what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty!"
He continues, verse 3, "When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Finally, I confessed all my sin to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, 'I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.'" And here is the great news, "And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone." And that is what he is celebrating. That is where his joy came from. Such a load was lifted. Such a relief.
And here is more, verses 10 & 11, "Many sorrow come to the wicked" and this is true, "But unfailing love surrounds those who trust in the Lord. So rejoice in the Lord and be glad all you who obey him! Shout for joy, all of you whose hearts are pure." And all I can say is, Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
