Thursday... In his hiding in caves and running from Saul, David was being used by God. In all of this time of getting away from Saul, he wasn't wasting the experience, he was writing the Psalms and learning and growing and preparing.
So how is God using this pandemic in our lives? What is he building in us and developing in us? God does that.
David was in a tough spot when he wrote Psalm 52, "Why do you boast about your crimes, great warrior? Don't you realize God's justice continues forever? All day long you plot destruction. Your tongue cuts like a sharp razor; you're an expert at telling lies. You love evil more than good and lies more than truth." He didn't learn that in a peaceful experience back home, away from the evil of life. He learned it during his running and hiding and he then shared it with us.
He says in verses 6 & 7, "The righteous will see it and be amazed. They will laugh and say, 'Look what happens to mighty warriors who do not trust in God. They trust their wealth instead and grow more and more bold in their wickedness.'" We're seeing that today. There is so much to learn.
David then says, "But I am like an olive tree, thriving in the house of God. I will always trust in God's unfailing love. I will praise you forever, O God, for what you have done. I will trust in your good name in the presence of your faithful people."
So how is God wanting to use the difficulties of what you are going though? Is your relationship with him growing stronger or are you waisting the time in self pity and discouragement? It's in tough times that we grow and learn. It is in tough times that we show that we are faithful people. It's in tough times when we really learn to put our trust in God. It is in tough times that we experience his unfailing love.
God is not abusing us, he is preparing us. Let's say with David, "I will praise you forever, O God, for what what you have done. I will trust in your good name in the presence of your faithful people." Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
