Wednesday... So what do you need today? Good question, and I'm sure your have a good list.
Well, David in Psalm 23 looks at his list and he says in verse 1 (MSG), "God, my shepherd! I don't need a thing." God is at the top of his list and everything else falls into place.
Now a sheep is an interesting animal. It seems all they need to do is eat, sleep and let their wool grow. And the shepherd is the one who finds their food. Even at night he takes them to a safe place to sleep and he lies at the entrance and protects them from anything that would harm them. They then wake up and are taken by the shepherd to where their food is and they eat. Even if they might wander away he comes after them and finds them. A sheep has it pretty good. He doesn't a need a thing!
Psalm 23:1-3 (MSG) says, "God, my shepherd! I don't need a thing. You have bedded me down in lush meadows, you find me quiet pools to drink from, true to your word, you let me catch my breath and send me in the right direction."
He goes on, "Even when the way goes through Death Valley, I'm not afraid when you walk at my side. Your trusty shepherd's crook makes me feel secure."
Now why, why would we want to do all this alone? Why do we think that we can do this alone? When we don't need to!!! Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
